Mentors meet one-on-one with their mentees for 1 to 2 hours each week.Whether it’s throwing a ball, baking cookies, or playing board games at a local coffee shop, the focus is always on the friendship. Children in this program range from ages 5-17. Although we request a minimum of a 12 month commitment, many of our volunteers have continued in their friendships for much longer.
Lunch-Time Mentor Program
Mentors commit to meet during lunch-time for a full school-year (9 months) with their young friends on school grounds at Kittitas Elementary, Thorp Elementary, Valley View Elementary, Mt. Stuart Elementary and Lincoln Elementary. Children range from kindergarten to 5th grade and enjoy spending time with their adult friends engaging in diverse activities, including reading, board games, sports, tag, and art projects.
Career/Vocational Mentor Program
Mentors meet one-on-one with their mentees for 1 to 2 hours each week for 6 weeks. Youth often leave Highschool wondering what their next step should be. "Career and Vocational Mentoring" matches local youth ages 14-19 with a trusted adult in a working enviornment of their choice. This is an opportunity where youth can explore career, vocational and educational pathways with the one-on-one support of a trusted adult.
This program happens on the 1st Friday of every month and features local youth artwork from area schools. The event is hosted at the Youth Services location (213 W. 3rd Avenue) from 5-7pm.
Every Thursday from 5pm-7pm, Youth Services opens its doors for game night, located at (213 W. 3rd Avenue). Youth can bring their trusted adult to play board games, pool, make art and hang out. See monthly schedule on our Facebook for weekly special activity.
