Community-Based Mentor Program

12-month commitment

Mentors meet one-on-one with their mentees for 1 to 2 hours each week.Whether it’s throwing a ball, baking cookies, or playing board games at a local coffee shop, the focus is always on the friendship. Children in this program range from ages 5-17. Although we request a minimum of a 12 month commitment, many of our volunteers have continued in their friendships for much longer.

Lunch-Time Mentor Program

9-month commitment

Mentors commit to meet during lunch-time for a full school-year (9 months) with their young friends on school grounds at Ellensburg and Cle Elum/Roslyn Schools. Children range from kindergarten to high school (although most students are Elementary age) and enjoy spending time with their adult friends engaging in diverse activities, including reading, board games, sports, tag, and art projects.

CURRENT COVID-19 ADAPTATIONS: The school-based program is now offered through Zoom to work in conjunction with the hybrid school model. The program has evolved in an effort to help children to navigate their new learning environments.  Mentors dedicate an hour a week to their mentee (child). This hour can be spent playing games, reading together, helping them with homework, or just talking.

6-Week Commitment

Mentors meet one-on-one with their mentees for 1 to 2 hours each week for 6 weeks. Youth often leave Highschool wondering what their next step should be. "Career and Vocational Mentoring" matches local youth ages 14-19 with a trusted adult in a working enviornment of their choice. This is an opportunity where youth can explore career, vocational and educational pathways with the one-on-one support of a trusted adult.
