Exhilarated by work that has proven to have a positive effect on youth? Interested in working with adult volunteers? Want to make a real difference in the Kittitas County community? If so, this new Program Coordinator position may be just what you are looking for!
The Program Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training and screening adult volunteers and matching them one-to-one with local youth. You’ll interview and generally get to know young people in an effort to match them most effectively with adult volunteer mentors. You’ll be involved in the training and support for mentors, check in on mentor/mentee matches as they mature over time, and plan and implement community-based activities. Grant-funded, this position will begin June 1st at 20 hours a week for the first month of training. It will move to full time upon training completion at 40 hours a week beginning July 1st. Pay is $17/hour. Successful performance will certainly have a positive effect on our ability to be funded for a second year, 2020-2021.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working well with a variety and diversity of people, especially the whole range of adults and youth. We want someone who has a high emotional IQ, meaning a positive attitude and the ability to read the emotions of people around them. While education in social services, psychology and/or health education or experience in a mentoring program would be positive, it’s not as important as having a relentless belief in our program and the value of mentoring. Knowledge of Kittitas County and connections with the fabric of our community especially valued.
A complete application includes a cover letter explaining how your experience prepares you to perform the duties of the position and why you are committed to mentoring youth, a resume, and names and contact information for three professional references.
